On November 13th, 2011 the congregation approved how the Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) will be formed. It was agreed that:
1. The PNC will have seven members, as close as possible half men and half women, with two members from the Session.
2. The list of nominees will be created by a combined meeting(s) of
the Session and the standing Nominating Committee. Note that the
standing Nominating Committee is the one that nominates people to serve
as elders or deacons. It is comprised of elders, deacons, and members
at large.
3. Demographic make-up: These seven areas reflect groups whose representation is critical on the PNC:
a. Education (reflecting passion for and understanding of children
in the church, and the preschool that meets on campus)
b. Young families
c. Missions (internal and external to the church)
d. Youth (minimum age, high school)
e. Long-term members (reflecting our senior-aged members, charter
members, etc., who know the history of EPC)
f. Music/Worship
g. Newer Members reflecting perspectives of those who are newer to
the congregation’s culture, traditions, etc., and who may have different
perspectives than long-term members).
The Session and standing Nominating Committee will meet in the coming
weeks to develop a slate of nominees. Since the job description will be
quite involved, those potential nominees will be shown the job
description to insure they will be able to fulfill their duties.
On December 4th, there will be a congregational meeting after service to
vote on the nominees put forth by the combined Session/Nominating
committee for the PNC. Nominations from the floor also be allowed.
