Jesus Christ
By faith, we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We believe Christ to be fully human and fully divine. In the incarnation, we believe God came to us in human form. Jesus, who was God in human flesh, gave His life for love of the world. Through Him we find redemption, healing, forgiveness of sin, and grace.
The Trinity
We believe God exists in Trinitarian form, that is, there are three manifestations of the one God. These three are the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each manifestation of God has had particular roles to play in Biblical history. We see God the Father as Creator and Ruler of all, God the Son as Redeemer, teacher, healer, & compassionate friend, and God the Holy Spirit as teacher and inspirer of all wisdom.
The Bible
We believe the Bible to be inspired writings of the people of God. Our Bible contains the Hebrew scriptures and the Christian scriptures. These writings are a witness without parallel to Jesus Christ. We believe we are called to study the scriptures with all the literary and scholarly tools we can find. We believe the word of God is contained in these scriptures.
The Church
We believe all who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are part of the body of Christ, the church. The universal body of Christ spans all times and places. The Holy Spirit gave birth to the church at Pentecost and this same Spirit continues to give life to the church.
The Sacraments
We believe sacraments to be "the visible form of an invisible grace." (St. Augustine).
We believe there are two sacraments, baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism with water is an outward sign of an inward faith in regards to adults, and the seal of the grace of God where the very young are baptized. In the Lord’s Supper, we have the body and blood of Christ in symbolic form to remind us of His life given for love of the world.
