What to Expect During a Worship Service

  • At 9:50 AM, a musical prelude begins, inviting us to enter and find places to sit.
  • We sing an opening hymn or song.
  • The pastor gives a greeting, and makes some announcements.
  • An attendance form is passed around at this time. If you are a visitor, please let us know by checking the Visitor box.
  • Then we greet those around us.
  • We sing another song.
  • The worship leader presents a reading.
  • We recite a prayer together, out loud, from the bulletin.
  • The worship leader reads a passage from the Bible. The selected passage is also printed in the bulletin.
  • We sing again, usually a more contemporary song.
  • The children are invited to come forward for a short, kid-friendly lesson. Children then return to their seats.
  • The choir sings.
  • We sing a song. Children leave for Sunday school at this time (preschool through high school).
  • The sermon is given.
  • Members share their concerns and prayer requests with the congregation, followed by silent prayer, ending with the Lord's Prayer, said out loud by all.
  • An offering is taken by the passing of offering plates. If you are visiting, please feel free to let the plate pass you by.
  • We sing a short praise song.
  • On the first Sunday of the month, we celebrate Communion, a remembrance of the Last Supper.
  • We sing another song.
  • The pastor gives a brief closing prayer and blessing.
  • A short, closing song is sung.
  • The pastor stands at the doors to greet us as we leave.
  • Coffee, juice and cookies are available afterward, and you are invited to stay and chat.
