Easter says you can put truth in a grave, but it won't stay there.
You can nail it to a cross, wrap it in winding sheets and shut it up in a tomb, but it will rise!

— Clarence W. Hall

Everything lasts its time, but the love of God—which was at work
and was expressed in the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead—lasts forever.
  — Karl Barth

 Prelude

Responsive Call to Worship

Alleluia! Christ is risen!
Christ is risen indeed!
Death is defeated! Christ is risen!
Christ is risen indeed!
Hope is here! Christ is risen!
Christ is risen indeed!

*Opening Songs:

“Christ the Lord is Risen Today”
Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!
Earth and Heaven in chorus say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing ye Heavens and earth reply, Alleluia!

Love's redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight the battle won, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids Him rise, Alleluia!
Christ has opened paradise, Alleluia!

Lives again our Glorious King, Alleluia!
Where O death is now thy sting, Alleluia!
Once He died our souls to save, Alleluia!
Where's thy vict’ry boasting grave, Alleluia!

Soar we now where Christ has led, Alleluia!
Following our exalted Head, Alleluia!
Made like Him like Him we rise, Alleluia!
Ours the cross the grave the skies, Alleluia!

 Scripture – 1 Corinthians 15:50-58

“Thine is the Glory”
Thine is the glory
Risen conquering Son
Endless is the victory
Thou o’er death hast won
Angels in bright raiment
Rolled the stone away
Kept the folded grave clothes
Where Thy body lay

Chorus:
Thine is the glory
Risen conquering Son
Endless is the victory
Thou o’er death hast won

Lo Jesus meets us
Risen from the tomb
Lovingly He greets us
Scatters fear and gloom
Let his church with gladness
Hymns of triumph sing
For the Lord now liveth
Death hath lost its sting

Chorus

No more we doubt Thee
Glorious Prince of life
Life is nought without Thee
Aid us in our strife
Make us more than conquerors
Through Thy deathless love
Lead us in Thy triumph
To thy home above

Chorus

Responsive Prayer of Resurrection

God of mercy, we no longer look for Jesus among the dead,
for he is alive and has become the Lord of life.
From the waters of death, you raise us with him and renew your gift of life within us.
Increase in our minds and hearts, the risen life we share with Christ.
Grow us as your people into the ambassadors of your Kingdom.
Give us joy in your service as we walk daily with you.
By your resurrection, you raised the dead, and brought us from death to life.
May we forever delight in your presence, through Christ,
with Christ, and in Christ,

with the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever. Amen.

(Silence is kept for private prayer)

“I Know that My Redeemer Lives”
I know that my Redeemer lives
What joy this blest assurance gives
He lives He lives who once was dead
He lives my ever-living head

He lives triumphant from the grave
He lives eternally to save
He lives exalted throned above
He lives to rule His church in love

He lives to bless me with His love
He lives to plead for me above
He lives my hungry soul to feed
He lives to help in time of need

He lives my kind wise heav'nly friend
He lives and loves me to the end
He lives and while He lives I'll sing
He lives my Prophet Priest and King

He lives all glory to His name
He lives my Savior still the same
What joy this blest assurance gives
I know that my Redeemer lives

Scripture – Luke 23:54-24:12

Kids' Message

Sermon
Rev. Patrick Vaughn

“Mighty to Save"
Everyone needs compassion
Love that's never failing
Let mercy fall on me
Everyone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Savior
The hope of nations

Chorus:
Savior He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever Author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

So take me as You find me
All my fears and failures
Fill my life again
I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in
Now I surrender

Chorus

Shine your light and
let the whole world see
We're singing
For the glory of the risen King
Jesus
Shine your light and
let the whole world see
We're singing
For the glory of the risen King

Chorus

Offertory
In response to God's grace, we offer our thinking, talents, treasure and prayers.
May Father, Son and Spirit be glorified as we offer ourselves to love and serve God.

Prayer & The Lord's Prayer

*Closing Song: “In Christ Alone”
In Christ alone, my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
'Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand
