Lent Community Groups
As Lent approaches, we are invited once again to slow down, listen, and turn our hearts toward God. This year at Emmanuel we will have the opportunity to do that together through Lenten Community Groups focused on prayer.
Beginning the week of Ash Wednesday (2/18), Community Groups of 6–8 people will gather together for 8 sessions, which means we will meet a few weeks into the Easter season. Each Community Group will gather to watch a short teaching video, engage in thoughtful conversation, and practice prayer in ways that are simple, honest, and accessible. Whether prayer feels familiar or challenging right now this is for you.
These Community Groups are not about “getting prayer right,” but about learning to pray together. A guiding belief is by prayer, community is created as well as expressed. As we listen to God and one another, we trust that communion with God deepens our connection with each other and the world. You could call these groups Commuion-ity groups.
As Jesus’ disciples once asked, “Lord, teach us to pray,” we will come with that same posture of humility, curiosity, and hope as learners.
Important Dates
Sign-ups open now and run through February 15 (sign up after church in the Narthex or HERE)
Community Groups will be formed by February 15, and participants will be notified
Late sign-ups are possible after February 15, though group options may be limited
Groups will aim to meet weekly for 8 sessions; days, times, and locations will be determined based on sign-ups (groups will meet a few weeks after Easter for a total of 8 sessions)
If you are longing for a deeper prayer life, curious about new ways to pray, or simply hoping to walk through Lent with others, these Community Groups meet that longing. No prior experience is needed—only a willingness to show up and be present. Perfect attendance is not required only the desire to grow in communion with God and community with one another.
