Lenten Study Guides

In conjunction with our Lenten sermon series, "Listening", several small groups are making use of the study guide entitled "Learning to Listen: Inhabiting the space between asking and receiving."  This five week Lenten study makes use of five psalms to explore the idea of listening prayer. The guide is adaptable to individual study as well.  Click here for a copy of the study guide.

Learning at Emmanuel Presbyterian

Children and Youth

Sundays are the time for children to participate in the life of the congregation.  Currently we have a nursery for children ages 3 and under, a class for 4-6 year olds and a multi age class for gradeschoolers up to 6th grade.  In the nursery, the littlest ones are cared for by loving volunteers who make this time away from parents nurturing and enjoyable.   In the 4-6 year old class, lessons focusing on Bible stories are set in the context of play and interactions.  The gradeschoolers are also learning what it means to be part of the community of faith which sometimes means learning from the Bible and other times focuses on serving and ministering to others.  In all aspects of learning there is a focus on relationships and encouraging the development of the whole person in the life of faith:  worship and faith are more “caught than taught!”

Most of the learning opportunities offered at Emmanuel for adults are seasonal.  During particular times of the year we offer small group Bible studies, book reading groups, prayer retreats and special seminars. The next scheduled seasonal study opportunity will be during Lent 2018. Check out the calendar for information about current learning opportunities for adults.
