What We Believe

One of the oldest and most reliable descriptions of the essentials of the Christian faith can be found in the Apostles’ Creed.  This creed is perhaps the most succinct way to describe the core of our beliefs at Emmanuel.

Beyond the Apostles’ Creed, we are guided by the Word of God and belong to the Presbyterian Church USA, which is guided by our Book of Confessions and the Book of Order. We live in a complex world and recognize that belief gets worked out in diverse expressions by individuals within the body of Christ. That is why we believe in the essentials of our faith expressed in the Apostle’s Creed and the essential tenets of the reformed faith expressed in our Book of Confessions form the center of our belief. We also affirm the freedom of conscience of every believer (F-3.0101) and advocate mutual forbearance in our differences (F-3.0105). This approach creates room for people to come as they are before the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to offer their lives in worship as part of the body of Christ. We believe the Holy Spirit binds us together as one in our diversity, which is a reflection of our Triune God who exists as a unity, one God, in diversity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

If you have a specific question about doctrines, belief, or what it means to walk in faith with Jesus, please call the church or send a message to info@epcbothell.org and the Pastor will contact you.
